We undertook an assessment of the soils and the slopes for the construction of a new hangar at Tunbridge as a donation to help the Soaring Club of Tasmania move to a new site. We designed a wastewater system to handle the toilet, shower and sinks and will address any storm-water overflow from the water tanks. Due to the large area available and the small amount of use, a septic tank and absorption trench will be installed.
The soils were deep alluvial clays
An Abney level was used to locate the best site away from any potential flooding.
Teaching the next generation to do a contour survey
We used our Christie Post Driver with Soil Sampling Tube to extract a soil core for assessment at two potential hangar sites
