ON-SITE WASTEWATER DESIGN (AS/NZS 1547-2012)
Robyn is an accredited Building Services Design practitioner for domestic onsite wastewater assessment and designs. She has completed over 1000 successful designs according to AS/NZS1547-2012 and works with all the major installers to ensure the design complies with planning and building regulations. Robyn also assesses subdivision developments for suitability for onsite wastewater storage and will provide advice on remediation of older failing septic tank systems.
Designs include traditional septic tank and absorption trench designs as well as septic tanks with bottomless sand filters or geotextile sand filter systems (Eljen and Advanced Enviro-Septic). Other designs include irrigation or modified beds for packaged treatment systems (AWTS e.g. Envirocycle, Graf, Ozzi Kleen, Econocycle, Fuji Clean, Taylex etc.), composting toilets and separate greywater designs.
Robyn works closely with the client and liaises with all councils and installers in Tasmania to ensure her designs comply with the current Planning Scheme and Building Act regulations.
SOIL FOUNDATION ASSESSMENTS (AS/NZS 2870-2011)
Robyn has completed 1000 site and soil classification reports for developments throughout Tasmania according to AS2870-2011 Residential Slabs and Footings and wind loading classification to AS4055-2012.
Richard is a trained geologist with CPSS (Certified Professional Soil Scientist), awarded at the highest level (stage 3, though now stages not used) and 35 years experience in New Zealand, Greece, Namibia, USA and Australia. He has an Honours and Masters degree in geology and a Doctorate (PhD) in soil science. He has taught soils, land-forms and geology at a university level for over 30 years.
LAND STABILITY AND GEOTECHNICAL ASSESSMENT
Robyn has over 5 years’ experience in completing land stability classifications. Richard completed his Masters and PhD qualifications in soil erosion in northern Greece and has extensive experience in assessing landslip hazards in NZ, where he completed his BSc and Honours training and worked in high erosion environments in South Westland.
LAND CONTAMINATION
Richard has supervised doctoral research into pesticide fate in soils and conducted a major research project into leaching, break-down and sorption of pesticides. He has also researched heavy metal contamination from mine site leaching and in soils treated with biosolids for protracted periods.
LAND CAPABILITY ASSESSMENT
Robyn has over 5 years experience in land capability and suitability classification for agriculture, urban and forestry uses. Richard has taught land evaluation for over 25 years at university level and worked for the Tasmanian State Government Land Capability Project team for three years where he completed major soil surveys throughout Northern Tasmania.
